Welcome

Threshold Moment

P:We’ve spent the last several weeks reflecting on the process of transformation and growth, using the butterfly as an amazing metaphor for our own lives and faith journeys. Today we leap forward into the winds of adventure, ready to soar to new heights and break away from the systems of injustice and oppression that have kept us bound. Come, catch a headwind, and rise up to freedom!

“Come Out!” · Mark Miller

Come out! Come out of your comfortable spaces.
Come, meet Jesus in the difficult places.

Questions for Metamorphosis

Liturgist:Before we chose a life of faith, we wondered…

All:…where will this path lead me?

Liturgist:When we are confronted with limitations, we wonder…

All:…what can I do to move past this obstacle?

Liturgist:When we are frozen with fear and sidelined by doubt, we wonder…

All:…what if this hesitation didn’t hold me back?

Liturgist:When we are in need of physical or spiritual healing, we wonder…

All:…could the hand of God reach me, even here?

Liturgist:Then the love of the Divine reminds us,

All:“You too are my child. You can emerge to renewed life. Again and again.” Amen.

Passing the Peace

Pastor:The Peace of Christ be with you.

All:And also with you.

Pastor:You are invited to pass the peace among you, remembering to pass it to those joining us remotely.

Self-Portrait

by Mary Oliver

I wish I was twenty and in love with life

and still full of beans.

Onward, old legs!

There are the long, pale dunes; on the other side

the roses are blooming and finding their labor

no adversity to the spirit.

Upward, old legs! There are the roses, and there is the sea

shining like a song, like a body

I want to touch

though I’m not twenty

and won’t be again but ah! seventy. And still

in love with life. And still

full of beans.

COMMUNITY PRAYER ~ THE LORD'S PRAYER

Sung in Echo

Our Mother, Father, Our Mother, Father

Who art in heaven, Who art in heaven

Hallowed be thy name, Hallowed be thy name

Thy Kingdom come, Thy Kingdom come

Thy will be done, Thy will be done

On earth as it is in heaven, On earth as it is in heaven

Give us this day, Give us this day

Our daily bread, Our daily bread

And forgive us all our sins, And forgive us all our sins

And lead us not, And lead us not

Into temptation, Into temptation

But deliver us from evil, But deliver us from evil

For yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory

Forever, Forever

And ever, And ever

Our Mother, Father, Our Mother, Father

Who art in heaven, Who art in heaven

Hallowed be thy name, Hallowed be thy name

Ancient Readings

MARK 2:1-5 (NRSVUE)

When he returned to Capernaum after some days, it was reported that he was at home. So many gathered around that there was no longer room for them, not even in front of the door, and he was speaking the word to them. Then some people came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. And when they could not bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him, and after having dug through it, they let down the mat on which the paralytic lay. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Child, your sins are forgiven.”
